Nautical wall art & prints

Nautical wall art for people who like the details of the sea. Signal flags fly in the rigging and a rope is made fast round a cleat. Mooring buoys float on green water beside an old brass compass. Alongside them sit tall ships under sail, harbour lights at the end of stone walls, and small boats in a sheltered harbour. The palette stays calm, in greens, greys, ivory and touches of ochre, so the pieces sit together without shouting. Every nautical print here is printed to order, with free UK delivery. Choose one for a hallway or a study, or build a small wall of details. None of them carries a slogan or any lettering, which keeps a nautical room from feeling themed.

Ships, sails and rigging

Signal Flags looks up a mast at a string of bright flags in the rigging. Full Sail and The Old Gaffer show sails at work. All eight of our tall ships and working boats are in our ship prints.

Buoys, anchors and harbour details

Mooring Buoys is a cluster of round buoys on calm green water, chain trailing. Rope and Cleat is a thick rope made fast round a cleat on a weathered quay. Compass Rose is an old brass compass in a wooden case. Small, close pictures like these work well hung in a pair.

Harbour lights

A light at the end of a harbour wall is as nautical as a flag. Harbour Light is a red-and-white light on a stone wall at dusk, with small boats moored below. Pier End puts a small white light at the end of a long wooden pier. Rock Light is calm and pale, and Night Watch sends one warm beam across a dark sea. The rest are in our lighthouse prints.

Nautical art for a bathroom

A nautical print can look right in a bathroom, but steam and splashes are hard on paper. We've gathered the calmer pieces, with advice on where to hang them, on our bathroom prints page.

Nautical decor that isn't kitsch

Nautical rooms tip into theme-park territory when every object has an anchor on it. Pick one or two good pictures and let the rest of the room stay plain. A single tall ship over a fireplace, or two detail prints in a hallway, says "sea" more gently than a wall of bunting. Our pieces avoid slogans and lettering for the same reason.

Texture helps too. Pair a print with natural materials, such as linen, rope, painted wood or stone, rather than more blue-and-white stripes. Let the picture carry the theme, and keep everything around it simple and well made.

Sizes and frames

Natural wood suits the rope, timber and compass pictures.

The detail prints and the tall ships are mostly portrait-shaped; the harbours are wide. Posters run from A4 to 70x100 cm. A natural wood frame suits the rope, timber and compass pictures; black suits the flags and the darker sea scenes. Our print sizes guide explains each size.

Nautical gifts

A nautical print makes an easy present for someone who loves the sea. See our nautical gifts, or our guide to gifts for sailors.

Questions, answered

What is nautical wall art?
Art about the sea and the things sailors use: ships, sails, flags, buoys, ropes, compasses and harbour lights.
Can I hang nautical prints in a bathroom?
We make them for dry rooms, so steam is the risk. Read the advice on our bathroom prints page before you choose a spot.
How do I make nautical decor look stylish?
Use fewer, better pieces. One large ship print or a pair of detail prints, in a calm palette and matching frames, looks more considered than many small themed objects.
