Still & Wake

Motorboat prints & classic motor launch art

Take the long way home. These boat paintings are printed to order and show warm timber, open water and a wake that goes on for a while. A classic motor launch heads home. A cabin cruiser waits at its pontoon. A small launch rests on its buoy. Every piece is in a painterly style. Each comes as a poster, framed poster, canvas, metal or wood print, delivered free in the UK. Choose by mood and by the boat you'd most like to be on. Wide pieces suit the wall above a sofa or a desk; the portrait one fits a narrow wall. For a print of the boat you actually own, start with a photo.

Classic launches and runabouts

Homeward Wake shows a cream launch with a timber cockpit, its wake curving white across deep green water. It's a picture of going somewhere, and it suits a wall that needs some movement. Slack Water is the opposite: an ochre and ivory launch at rest on its mooring buoy, in a graphic, blocky style.

Varnished Runabout is a classic wooden runabout cutting across a calm lake. It's our own invented design, not any maker's boat. River Launch glides along a tree-lined river, and Harbour Launch picks its way between moored boats.

Cabin cruisers on the mooring

The Quiet Berth is a blue and ivory cabin cruiser tied up at a timber pontoon on a still estuary in low evening light. Soft watercolour tones make it a calm choice for a bedroom or a reading corner. Evening Cruiser is a cabin cruiser in a calm bay at sunset, warm light in its windows.

Choosing between the three

Pick Homeward Wake for movement, The Quiet Berth for calm and Slack Water for a bolder, more graphic look. Homeward Wake and The Quiet Berth suit the space above a sofa or a desk. Slack Water is portrait and fits a narrow wall. Hung together, the three tell the story of a day out: at the berth, under way and resting on the mooring.

Wakes and open water

A wake gives a motorboat picture its direction. Our journal piece on the shape of a wake explains why the water behind a boat can make the picture. For more open water, see our coastal prints.

A print of your own motorboat

A broadside photo shows the hull line and windows best.

For the boat you actually own, upload a broadside photo: it shows the hull line and windows best. Print the photo as it is, or try an AI art treatment and check the free preview before you pay. AI can change a window or a rail, so compare it with the photo. Our motorboat portrait guide has more.

Gifts for motorboat owners

A motorboat print suits an owner who spends the winter missing the boat. Our boat gifts page covers new boats, birthdays and retirements. Narrowboat owners are better served by our sister store, Narrowboat Gifts.

Questions, answered

Do you make prints of specific boat models?
No. Our artworks show imagined boats, not real models or brands. For a picture of a particular boat, upload your own photo and print it as it is, or try an AI art treatment.
Which motorboat print suits a small room?
Choose a smaller size, A4 or A3, and a calm scene such as The Quiet Berth or Slack Water. Slack Water is portrait-shaped, so it fits a narrow wall.
Can I hang a print on my boat?
Our prints are made for dry rooms ashore. Keep it at home or in an office rather than in the cabin, where damp gets into paper and canvas.
