About this print
A two-masted square-rigger heads toward you on a green sea, her sails catching the warm light of a sunset. The sky is apricot and peach with streaks of blue cloud, a low coast lies behind her, and a few gulls skim the water. Every rope and ratline in her rigging is picked out.
The warm colours make it a cosy picture for a sitting room, a dining room or a study. Homeward bound is an old sailor's phrase for the trip back to port, so it's often chosen for a retirement or someone coming home after a long time away.
The rigging detail suits a framed poster. A framed canvas in dark wood gives it the feel of an old marine painting. Choose 50x70 cm or 40x50 cm.
It suits warm cream, terracotta or deep green walls. For a pair, hang it beside Brig at Dawn to set a sunset against a sunrise. Written on the card, the title says a lot for a retirement present.
