About this print
A three-masted tall ship sails straight toward you with every sail set. A ship like this, with square sails on all three masts, is called a full-rigged ship. Her dark hull pushes through a grey-green sea and the cream sails stack up above her in tiers, held by a web of rigging.
This is a bold, classic picture. It suits a study, a hallway or a dining room, and it's a favourite with anyone who loves maritime history or tall ships at a festival. It's tall, so it fits a narrow wall or a chimney breast.
The rigging is fine and detailed, and a framed poster keeps every line sharp. A framed canvas in dark wood gives it a traditional, old-master look. A2 or 50x70 cm shows the sails properly.
Navy, deep green and cream walls suit it. For a tall ship pair, hang it beside Running Before the Wind, which shows another ship heading your way. It also sits well on a bookshelf wall among old maps or charts.
