Still & Wake

For the days that stay with you.

Still & Wake is a small UK print studio, and I run it. I'm Craig Fearn. The shop is for people whose favourite place is somewhere on the water: an empty anchorage, a first sail, the wake behind a boat on the way home. I write every page here, and the emails that come in to hello@stillandwake.co.uk come to me.

Three things we make

First, a collection of marine prints: sailing yachts, motor launches, harbours, beaches, lighthouses and seabirds. Every scene is imagined. There's no real harbour, named boat or famous lighthouse in it, so a picture can't get someone's boat or home port wrong. There are 56 of them, and each comes as a poster, a framed poster, a canvas, a framed canvas, or a panel in metal or wood.

Second, a print of your own boat photo, exactly as you took it, with nothing changed.

Third, a boat portrait: your photo regenerated by AI as a watercolour, a marine oil or a colour study. You see a free watermarked preview first and only pay for the one you choose. The boat portraits page sets the two photo routes side by side.

How a print is made

Nothing is held in stock. When you order, the print file goes to Gelato, the print company that makes and posts our prints. Making takes 2 to 4 working days and delivery 2 to 5 more, and delivery is free to UK addresses. Posters are on 250gsm uncoated, off-white archival paper. Framed posters sit behind a plexiglass front, in black or natural wood, and canvas comes stretched over a wooden frame, so neither needs a trip to a framer.

What gets checked

When you upload a photo, the site measures it against every format and only offers the sizes it can print at 150 dots per inch or better. The first order of any new product is held back and checked before it goes to print. A portrait isn't printed until you've picked a preview. And every artwork page shows the print trimmed exactly as it will be at the size you choose, so what you see on the page is what arrives.

What we won't do

  • Put a real boat, a maker's badge or a club's colours in the collection.
  • Call a portrait hand-painted. It's made from your photo by AI, and the page says so before you pay.
  • Print a fact we can't trace. Each fact in the guides links to the body that published it, or it comes out.
  • Blur the returns rules. A catalogue print can go back within 14 days if you change your mind. A print of your own photo is made for you alone, so it can't, and that's stated before you buy.
