About this print
You're looking up a wooden mast at strings of bright signal flags fluttering in the wind. These are code flags: each one stands for a letter, and ships fly a long string of them on special days, which is called dressing ship. The flags are red, yellow, blue and white against a pale sky.
It's colourful and fun, so it suits a child's room, a kitchen or a sailing club. It's a good gift for a sailor, or for a celebration such as a birthday or a launch day.
The bright colours look crisp as a framed poster or on metal. Canvas gives them a softer look. It's tall; A3 or A2 fits a narrow wall.
White, navy and red walls suit it, and it brightens a plain room. For a nautical set, add Compass Rose and Rope and Cleat, which are also close-up details from a boat. A set of three looks good in a row in a hallway or a sailing club bar. Sailors enjoy trying to read the flags, so expect questions. A black frame makes the colours pop.
