About this print
Five oystercatchers stand on wet sand at the edge of the tide, their black and white feathers and long orange beaks reflected in the shallow water. The far shore is green and hilly and the sky is pale. Oystercatchers are the noisy shorebirds you often hear piping before you see them.
It's calm and simple, and it suits a bedroom, a hallway or a bathroom with good airflow. It's a lovely gift for someone who walks an estuary or a beach and knows these birds.
The reflections look smooth as a framed poster. On canvas, the sand gets more texture. Pick 40x50 cm for a small wall, 50x70 cm for a larger one.
Pale grey, sand and soft green walls suit it. For a set, add Low Tide and Terns, which share the same shoreline colours. Oystercatchers are found on coasts all round the UK, so most people who walk a beach will know them. A natural wood frame suits the soft colours. For a long wall, a 50x70 cm print gives all five birds room.
