Still & Wake

Craig Fearn

I run Still & Wake, a UK studio that prints marine art and personal boat prints to order. Nothing's held in stock: each piece is made after somebody buys it.

A natural wood framed rope and compass painting beside a black framed harbour painting.

The writing on this site is mine. The guides, the journal, the gift pages and the product descriptions are written here, and they describe what we actually make. Where a page names a size or a format, it comes from the same catalogue the checkout charges against.

The rule the guides run on

Marine writing repeats a lot of facts nobody can trace. The rule here is simple: a fact carries a link to the body that published it, or it goes. Lighthouse facts come from Trinity House, course names from the RYA, membership details from the RNLI. If I can't find the source, the sentence doesn't run.

What we make

Three things, all printed to order. A collection of marine art prints of yachts, launches, harbours and lighthouses, each printed to order. A photograph of your own boat, printed as it is. And a portrait regenerated by AI from your photograph, in one of three painterly styles, with a free preview before anybody pays.

What I write about

Getting hold of me

Corrections are the useful kind of email. If a fact here is out of date, I'd rather hear it from a reader. hello@stillandwake.co.uk reaches me.

Questions, answered

Who writes the guides on this site?
I do. The guides, the journal, the gift pages and the product copy are written here rather than bought in.
Where do the facts come from?
From the body that publishes them: Trinity House for lighthouses, the RYA for courses, the RNLI for membership, galleries and museums for paintings. Each source is linked on the page that uses it, or the fact is cut.
Is a boat portrait painted by hand?
No. The portrait styles are regenerated by AI from your own photograph, and you see a free watermarked preview before you pay. If you print your boat photo instead, it is printed exactly as you took it.
